EDITORIAL
Skikda port enterprise has end up the activity of
2006 with positive results.
As a matter of fact, the rise of the traffic of about 14% compared to
2005, that is passing from 19.825.496 T to 22.528.948 T.
Concerning general cargo traffic, the enterprise has recorded a
highlight never reached before. With ………and a rise of 06% Compared to
2005 and of 103% of the annual objective rate.
This growth has also been shown at the level of hydrocarbons traffic
that reached in 2006, 20.460.829 Tons that is a rise of 15% as compared
to 2005.
This tendency is also shown at the level of vessels which transited by
the ports of Skikda .in 2006.which reached 3136 vessels that is a rise
of 03% compared to 2005.
In terms of container traffic, it has been recorded a light
decline of 06% compared to 2005 where 12.926 TEU have transited.
During 2006, the Enterprise has dedicated its efforts on investments.
In order to anticipate on the traffic growth , on the customers needs
and concerns , the Enterprise has acquired numerous equipments
especially those related to container’s treatment , dry bulk and heavy
loads as the mobile cranes of different capacities 60 T, 150 T and 350
T, this latter is the only sample in Algerian Ports and ,also, the
tug-boat ‘ Skikda’ of 4160 BHP.
In addition, the Enterprise has acquired two plots of land to develop
two dry ports. The first, is of 18 hectares and the second is of 07
hectares whose exploitation would be on the second fortnight of the
coming month.
All these good results and these investments consolidate the position of
the Enterprise in its strategy of development in search of the best
means to fortify its notoriety at the regional and national levels and ,
thus, in its continuous improvement policy.
RADIO SKIKDA FORUM
M Lemrabet Laidi; the general
manager of Skikda port enterprise and M. Farhi Abdelwahab;
Studies, Marketing and Communication Director have been the
guests of the 10th Edition of the local radio forum dedicated
for the results and the prospects of the Enterprise, and which
has been organised on December 26th, 2006 at the honour room of
the control tower / A/Port with the attendance of local
journalists.
Under the direction of M.
Yazid Benhamouda; Radio Skikda Director who has begun this forum
by introducing the enterprise, its missions and its results of
2006.
In fact, the enterprise
yielded good performances with an overall traffic of 22.528.948
tons that is a progress of 14% compared to 2005.
Concerning general cargo
traffic, it has recorded 2.062.019 tons as against 1.967.512
tons in 2005 that is a growth of 05%.
As far as Hydrocarbons
traffic, the Enterprise has treated 20.460.929 tons in 2006 as
against 17.857.984 tons in 2005 that is a growth of 15%.
As for maritime shipping,
3136 vessels called at Skikda Ports in 2006 as against 3042
vessels in 2005, that is a rise of 03%.
The container traffic, on the
opposite, has known a light decline of 06% that is 112.926 units
in 2006 as against 119.828 units in 2005.
To a question on goods which
have stayed for a long time in the port , M Lemrabet Laidi has
responded that these goods have been recorded by the different
partners and were either sold by the customs within public
auctions or destroyed according to dispositions in force.
A great part of these goods
were stored at the custom’s warehouse opened for this matter by
the Enterprise.
As for the port congestion ,
the Enterprise has acquired two plots of land for the sake of
creating two dry ports. The first, is of 07 hectares situated at
the Small Industrial Zone whose exploitation would be on the
second fortnight of April 2007.
This project allowed the
absorption of the additional container traffic.
A ‘ unique guichet ‘ will be
at the disposal of customers to facilitate all the
administrative procedures vis-à-vis the Frontier Police services
And customs services.
Besides, the second plot of
land of 18 hecta res situated at the Industrial Zone of
Hamrouche Hamoudi will be developed as a dry port. It will a
starting point for a logistic corridor towards the Hinterland of
13 wilayates and which represent the logistical basis.
Considering the efforts
furnished during 2006, the enterprise has been at the second
rank as for the container traffic with a share market rate of
18% after the port of Algiers and the same situation as for
Hydrocarbons traffic which is ranked second after the port of
Arzew.
The annual turnover of the
Enterprise is of 04 billion AD in 2006.Being in this honourable
place, the Enterprise has done many efforts in terms of
investments in
infrastructure and
equipment acquisitions and among these operations we can cite
the acquisition of new mobile cranes (60 T, 150 T and 350 T).
This latter, is the only crane that exists in Algerian ports.
There is also the acquisition of a new tug-boat whose capacity
is of 4160 HP, and whose reception will be on February, 2007.
Concerning the operations
related to infrastructure, we note the conversion of P4 birth
which has been developed to receive high tonnage vessels of
25.000 T with a max draft of 11 meters.
ITALIAN DELEGATION
VISITS
SKIKDA PORTS
M.Fabio Repetto and M.Lucio
Tirone, two experts of the Italian Study Office of Appolonia
have been the guests of Skikda Ports staff managers on the 9th,
September 2006.
This Study Office has been
chosen within the framework of the International bind launched
by the Ministry of transports to realise a study for the
implementation of the security system and telesurveillace safety
for the community network VTS at the level of the Algerian
Ports.
The stages of the study
concern:
- elaboration of the coast system.
- Elaboration of port system VTSP
- Elaboration of a telecommunication port control ( TLC
)
- Elaboration of visibility and covering study.
Within the same context, the
Study Office will establish a system of the Informatics Data
Exchange.
A meeting has been held by
the attendance of Skikda Port Authority responsibles, Frontier
Police Representatives, Fire Brigade agents, Coast Guards
services and STH responsibles.
The delegation has paid a
visit to different sensitive points and accesses of the Ancient
and the New ports.
The objective of this visit
is to identify the modern means of safety and security and
telesurveillance the best adapted to Skikda Ports.
Initiated by the Ministry of
Transports, this study aims essentially to collect port
information and can help the elaboration of schedule conditions
to launch the invitation tender to implement VTS System and the
acquisition of the necessary equipments for (cameras, radars )

RETURN OF THE B.I.B.O
TO SKIKDA PORT
After nearly ten years of
absence, a vessel transporting a cargo of sugar has called at
Skikda port , at Marinelle quay on the 1st January 2007.

This vessel has relieved the
LNG DESCARTES .It has gone alongside on the berth M2 to load
72.000 m3 of methane and would follow its road to Fos/Mer
